He was born October 4, 1943, in Salina, KS to Frank Leonard Kohlasch and Ibby (Fazel) Kohlasch. He was a 1961 graduate of Salina Central High School and a graduate of Fort Hays State University, earning his Bachelor degree in 1965 and Masters in 1969. He married Marita S. Read More	Gary G. Kohlasch, 72, Elkhorn, WI, died Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Lakeland Health Care Center. He was born October 4, 1943, in Salina, KS to Frank Leonard Kohlasch and Ibby (Fazel) Kohlasch. He was a 1961 graduate of Salina Central High School and a graduate of Fort Hays State University, earning his Bachelor degree in 1965 and Masters in 1969. He married Marita S. Engel on August 7, 1965, in Grainfield, KS. He began a career in teaching in Clay Center, KS, from there he taught at Offerly, KS until 1971, and at Jewell, KS, until 1973 where he became the high school principal. After leaving Jewell, he was the high school principal in Rose Hill, KS until 1975. He left Rose Hill to become the high school principal at Nemaha Valley High School in Seneca, KS until 1983 when he and his family moved to Hays, KS where he worked as the Assistant Manager at Suburban Cleaners for several years. He then taught at Norton and Ellsworth Correctional Facilities before finishing his teaching career in Wichita, KS before retirement. He was a member of the 7th Cavalry Lions Club of Hays, KS and a former District Governor of the Lions Club District 17-NW from 1987-1988. Survivors include a daughter, Jill Walby, Delavan, WI; two sons, Frank, Richfield, MN and Gary A., Manhattan, KS.; his sisters, Nellie Brown, Prairie Village, KS; Connie Freilinger, Salina, KS, and Karen Krohmer, Wichita, KS, and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, his mother, his brother Frank Kohlasch Jr., and his wife, Marita. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 8, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, 67401. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the mortuary. Burial will follow in the Bennington Cemetery, Bennington. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Fort Hays State University Scholarship Endowment. (Salina Post)
