Description	:	Gary L. "Boomer" Johnson, 66 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Flagstaff, Arizona. Gary was born December 13, 1942 in Holdrege, the second of five children to Les and Katie (McDougal) Johnson. He grew up on the family farm west of Holdrege. "Boomer" Johnson, 66 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Flagstaff, Arizona. Gary was born December 13, 1942 in Holdrege, the second of five children to Les and Katie (McDougal) Johnson. He grew up on the family farm west of Holdrege. Gary graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1960. Gary was united in marriage to Sharon D. Ball on June 15, 1963 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bertrand, Nebraska. To this union two sons were born: Jarrett Donald and Brody James. The family first made their home north of Loomis before moving to Holdrege where Gary continued to farm. Following his farming career, Boomer began a career as an over the road truck driver. At the time of his passing, Gary was on the road trucking to Phoenix, Arizona. He was a longtime member of the Holdrege Country Club, and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and the Elks Lodge. Gary was an avid sprint car fan and enjoyed the races with his family. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Sharon of Holdrege; two sons: J.D. Johnson of Owasso, Oklahoma and Brody Johnson of Lincoln, Nebraska; one grandson, Trevon of Owasso; one brother, Robert L. Johnson and one sister, Linda Johnson both of Holdrege; mother-in-law, Ethel Ball of Bertrand; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Joanna "Jo" Olson and Peggy Johnson; father-in-law, Kenneth Ball; and sister-in-law, Shirley Forester.
