Peggy Jane Johnson, 50 years of age, of Holdrege, died Sunday, August 17, 2008 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born on November 28, 1957 in Holdrege, the youngest of five children of Leslie C. and Katherine (McDougall) Johnson. Peggy graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1975. That year she gave birth to Derek Leslie Johnson on October 21, 1975 in Lincoln, NE. She then relocated to Hastings, Nebraska, where she met and married Roger Harwick, and to this union two sons were born: Joshua Lee Harwick, August 12, 1980 in Hastings, Ne. and Jared Robert Harwick, January 4, 1984 in Holdrege. Peggy attended McCook Community College, and afterwards worked at Mid-Nebraska in Oxford, and as a waitress at the Eagle's in Holdrege before suffering a debilitating knee injury. Peggy's life was her children and grandchildren, and together they were as close as a family could get. She also loved her dog and best friend, Rusty. She loved music, especially Frank Sinatra, going to Colorado to the mountains, and above all spending time with family, her wonderful grandchildren, and her dearest friends. Peggy had an enormous amount of love for all those she cared about, and that is what is remembered most about her. Survivors include her three sons: Derek Johnson, Joshua Harwick, and Jared Harwick all of Holdrege; grandchildren: Stephan Thompson, Brynn Debaun, Trevor and Zack Harwick, Mercy Linden, and Tristan Harwick; her brothers: Robert Johnson and Gary "Boomer" Johnson and his wife, Sharon and sister, Linda Johnson-Trollope and her husband, Les all of Holdrege; sister-in-law, Connie Organ of Holdrege; honorary daughters: Dawn Linden and Catherine Wideman both of Holdrege; nieces and nephews: Kathy Wolfe and Jocie Bradley, Shawn and Rylee Johnson, Carlos and Heidi Nino de Rivera, J.D. and Brody Johnson, Stephanie and Cassie Pulley and Rebeka Abramson; best friend, Ron Herrick of San Antonio, Texas, and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Peggy made each and every one of us feel special and loved, and words cannot express how much she will be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents: Les and Katie Johnson: her sister, Joanna K. Olson and Jo's husband, F. Roger "Hopp" Olson, and her beloved dog, Rusty.
