He had been in good health until becoming ill and entering the hospital a few hours before his death. He was born Feb. 11, 1944, in Humboldt, the son of Ray A. and Lois Bossell. He attended Chanute schools and graduated from Chanute High School. On July 12, 1965, he was married to Lena Zachry in Iola. They moved to Iola in 1972 from Chanute. He was employed by Ash Grove Cement Co., Chanute, and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Chanute. Survivors include his wife, one son, Gary Jr., and two daughters, Sheila and Becky, all at home, his mother, Lois Bossell, 1120 N. Washington, two brothers, Dennis and Jerry, both of Kansas City, half brother Richard, Denver, Colo., four sisters, Marsha Warden, Kansas City, Stephanie Bossell, 1120 N. Washington, Dreann Walls and Shelly Johnson, both of Omaha, Neb., and half sister Florence Wilson, Washington, D. C. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Friskel and Kinser Mortuary, Iola, with the Rev. Ed Lee Honeycutt officiating. Burial wil be at the Elmwood Cemetery.
