Read More	From Jeri Herbert Bio: OBITUARY FOR GARY LEON PURDY --------- THE IMPERIAL REPUBLICAN, Imperial, Nebraska Thursday, November 21, 2002 - pg 5 -------- Gary Leon Purdy was born June 21, 1940 at Wauneta, Neb. to Clyde and Beulah (Einspahr) Purdy. As a young man he attended grade school and high school in Wauneta. Gary served in the U.S. Navy and after his discharge he returned to Wauneta, Neb. Gary married Dorene Maye Mathews on June 28, 1959 in McCook, Neb. and the couple settled in Wauneta where Gary was employed by the Chase County Department of Roads. They moved to Imperial, Neb. in 1975 and in 1983 began careers as regional motel managers based in Omaha, Neb. Gary passed away Monday, Nov. 11, 2002 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. He was 62 years of age. Gary had many hobbies including hunting, fishing and woodworking. He enjoyed following the University of Nebraska football team and he especially loved his family. Survivors include mother, Beulah Purdy of Ogallala, Neb.; wife, Dorene Purdy of Omaha, Neb.; son, Ricky Purdy and wife, Noelle of Collins, Iowa; son, Craig Purdy and wife Laura of Kearney, Neb.; son, Randy Purdy and wife Mary of Elm Creek, Neb.; daughter, Kristie Loudermilk and husband Ed of Bellevue, Neb.; seven grandchildren, Randall, Derek, Krystal, Tasha, Jessica, Kellen and Rachael; sister, Marles Rowley of Herndon, Kan.; brother, Ronald Purdy and wife Sherrie of Ogallala, Neb.; brother, Jerry Purdy and wife Tina of Imperial, Neb.; four brothers-in-law; six sisters-in-law and very special friends, Scott Makinster and John Adair. Gary was preceded in death by his father, father and mother-in-law, Willard and Inez Mathews; three brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law. Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002 at the Wesleyan Church of Imperial, Neb. with Rev. Melvin K. Johnson officiating. Interment followed at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial, Neb. A memorial has been established in Gary's memory. Liewer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
