Description	:	Gearold Eugene "Gabe" Goodwin, 69 of Washington, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a short illness. Funeral Services have been set for 11:00 AM Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the First Assembly of God Church in Washington with Pastor James Cluney officiating. Burial will be at the Elm Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Saturday at the Church. Open visitation will be from Noon till 6:00P.M. Friday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. A general memorial in the name of Gearold "Gabe" Goodwin has been established. Gearold was born February 6, 1939 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Kenneth Eugene and Opal Beatrice (Moore) Goodwin. He was united in marriage to Kathy J. Hayes on February 5, 1966 in Washington. He owned and operated Goodwin Construction and was a brick layer and mason. He was a former member of the NRA and enjoyed fishing, hunting, competition muzzle loader shooting, gunsmithing, flying planes, golfing and visiting with his family. Survivors include his wife Kathy of Washington; mother Opal of Washington; children Jeani Hall of Brookfield, MO, Bub Goodwin and wife Rhonda of Washington, Ron Goodwin and wife Rhonda of Washington and Matt Goodwin and wife Misty of Washington; brothers, Jerry Goodwin and wife Marilyn of Farmington, AR, John Goodwin and wife Patsy of Peoria, AZ, Steven Goodwin and wife Ann of Mesa, AZ, Dan Goodwin and wife Lynn of Mesa, AZ and Mark Goodwin and wife Connie of Washington; sister Connie Allender and husband Don of Washington; sister in law Sarah Goodwin of Washington; fourteen grandchildren Wendi Sisson and husband Leroy, Abbey Helmick, Taylor, Winston, Timmy and Cody Hall, Travis and Austin Goodwin, Zac, Dylan and Olivia Goodwin, Maverik, Makenna and Marshal Goodwin; great-grandchild Haleigh Sisson and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth on Jan. 2, 2008, brother Ray and sister Dorothy Jane, mother and father in law Barb and Paul Hayes and sister in law Sheila Pickard.
