Description	:	John Jay Goodwin, 72, of Glendale, Arizona, formally of Washington, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, at Hospice of the Valley in Glendale, Arizona, following a brief illness. Celebration of Life services will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015 in Washington, at the First Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Dave Watson officiating. Mr. Goodwin was born Sept. 16, 1943, in Washington, the son of the Rev. Kenneth and Opal (Moore) Goodwin. He married Patsy Irene Tame at the Christian Tabernacle in Washington on June 7, 1964. He grew up in Wayland and attended Wayland Community School. John graduated Mechanic Trade School in Kansas City, Missouri. After having worked in the family business, Goodwin House Moving, John chose to make his profession in water quality and he worked with Culligan in different locations. He started his own commercial water conditioning business, CIW, in Phoenix, Arizona. His most recent endeavor was CIW Defense Equipment, which was building reverse osmosis systems for submarines. He enjoyed racecars and racing, having built different racecars and dragsters, which were driven by his son, Brian. His favorite pastime was fishing, and since retirement, spending his summers in Iowa with family and friends. He was a loving, devoted son, brother, husband and grandfather who loved spending quality time with his family. He never knew a stranger. Mr. Goodwin is survived by his wife Patsy; two sons, Mike Goodwin and wife Sandy and Brian Goodwin and wife Jessica, all of Glendale, Arizona; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; four brothers, Jerry Goodwin and wife Marilyn of Farmington, Arkansas, Steve Goodwin and wife Ann, Dan Goodwin and wife Linda, all of Mesa, Arizona, and Mark Goodwin and wife Connie of Washington; one sister, Connie Allender and husband Don of Washington; three sisters-in-law, Kathy Goodwin of Washington, Betty Pottinger and husband Donnie of Creston, Iowa, and Sharon Tame of Creston; two aunts, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gearold and Ray Goodwin; one sister, Dorothy Goodwin; and two sisters-in-law, Sarah Goodwin of Washington, and Wanda Heimke of Creston.
