Read More	Gene Benton Ferebee the son of Arbor B. and Helene (Goodrich) Ferebee was born March 13 1921 on a farm in Nuckolls County, Nebraska near Nelson. He departed this life on Monday, August 3, 2015 at his home near Oak, NE at the age of 94 years. Gene attended Bethel country school and graduated from Nelson High School with the class of 1938. With the exception of the three years and four months that he served in the Army in World War II in the Pacific Theater he farmed his entire life in Nuckolls County. Being a farmer his trademark attire was bib overalls, long sleeve shirt, a hat and shoes --- you never saw him barefoot. He married Violet Lang on January 23, 1949 and they had three children. They farmed initially north of Nelson and in 1958 moved to a farm south of Sedan and in 1965 they moved to the current farm northwest of Oak, NE. Preceding him in death were his parents, his brother Loren and sister Shirley. Survivors include his wife: Violet Ferebee of Oak, NE; sons: John Ferebee and wife Ronda of Oak, NE; George Ferebee of Edgar, NE; daughter Gwen Oltmanns and husband Darrell of Fremont, NE; grandchildren: Andrew Ferebee and wife Kaylee of Hastings, NE; Patrick Ferebee of Hastings, NE; step-grandchildren: Dean Oltmanns and wife Pam of Omaha, NE; Dwayne Oltmanns of Omaha, NE; Michelle Squier and husband Jeff of Golden, CO; step great grandchildren: Kyra, Liz and Ian Squier of Golden, CO; brother: James Ferebee and wife Marian of Nelson, NE; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held this Friday 10:30, August 7, 2015 at the Williams Funeral Chapel in Edgar, NE. Pastor David King will be officiating. Burial will be held in the Nelson Cemetery. Williams Funeral Home of Edgar is in charge of the arrangements.
