Description	:	Obituary Gene G. Gabel, a life-long resident of the Akron vicinity, died at a Sioux City hospital on Tuesday, January 28, following a brief illness at the age of 53 years. Gene was born in Akron on May 11, 1915, and farmed in the area most of his life. On December 18, 1937, he was united in marriage to Loris Gronemeyer. To this union three children were born. Gene was born in Akron on May 11, 1915, and farmed in the area most of his life. On December 18, 1937, he was united in marriage to Loris Gronemeyer. To this union three children were born. Funeral services for Mr. Gabel were held Thursday afternoon of last week, January 30, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Craig, Iowa, with Rev. Ernest Christensen officiating. Music consisted of the selections "Nearer to the Heart of God" and "Beautiful Savior" sung by the church choir, with Mrs. Norman Barker serving as organist. Casket bearers were Elmer Borchers, Edward Drake, Fred Borchers, Eldon Gable, Williams Borchers and Fred Grosenheider. Interment was in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery at Craig. Besides his widow, he is survived by a son, Gene Gabel of Sioux City; two daughters, Mrs. Wendell Oltmanns, of LeMars, and Deborah Gabel at home; two brothers, James Gabel and Glenn Gabel, both of Akron; a sister, Mrs. Lois Spinkelink, of Buena Park, Calif., and four grandchildren.
