Gene was born here on October 8, 1932 and his short life had been spent practically in one place. A private funeral was held at the Osage cemetery Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m., in charge of the Rev. John D. Kern, pastor of the Baptist church, and burial made on the family lot. MITCHELL COUNTY PRESS, Dec. 17, 1936 -------------------------------------------- Osage Scarlet Fever Victim's Funeral Held OSAGE, IOWA -- Brief funeral services were held at the Osage cemetery here Tuesday at 2 o'clock. In charge was the Rev. John D. Kern of the Osage Baptist church for Gene Richard Torney, age 4, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Torney, who live on a farm south of here. The boy had been sick a week with scarlet fever and double pneumonia. Surviving are his parents and two brother and sisters.
