Description	:	Genevieve A. Broxterman, 83, Topeka, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at a local hospital. Gen was born Sept. 17, 1921, in Axtell, to Mary and Peter Eagan. She attended school in Axtell. She married Robert L. Hawkins in Axtell on Jan. 8, 1946. Gen and Bob made their home near Axtell, where they farmed for many years. Bob and Gen moved to Seneca in February 1964. Broxterman, 83, Topeka, died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at a local hospital. Gen was born Sept. 17, 1921, in Axtell, to Mary and Peter Eagan. She attended school in Axtell. She married Robert L. Hawkins in Axtell on Jan. 8, 1946. Gen and Bob made their home near Axtell, where they farmed for many years. Bob and Gen moved to Seneca in February 1964. Bob passed away Dec. 3, 1964. Gen married Virgil P. Broxterman in Atchison on June 20, 1970. They lived in Minneapolis, Minn. They moved to Topeka in 1980 to begin their retirement. Virgil passed away Aug. 21, 1999. Gen so loved and enjoyed her family and many friends. She was a very warm, kind and generous person. She served as president of the Women's Altar Society at the parishes of St. Michael's in Axtell, Sts. Peter and Paul in Seneca, and Christ the King in Minneapolis, Minn. She volunteered at Let's Help and served on the election board in Topeka. Until her death, Gen assisted and chaired the funeral dinners at St . Matthew's Church for more than 15 years and also assisted with many other parish events. She truly loved her St. Matthew's family and “all of their hugs.” Gen has given us all so much, and she will be so missed. Survivors include her children, Robert Jr. and Bonnie Hawkins, Girard, Judy and Bob Flodin, Lenexa, Jerry Hawkins, Hoyt, Sharylee and Dan Zachary, Waxhaw, N.C., Mark and Lorraine Broxterman, Alexandria, Va., Terry Jensen, Minneapolis, Minn., Mary Beth and Tom Kuether, Eagan, Minn., Charles and Jodi Broxterman, Rosemeadow, Australia; 21 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Gen's surviving sisters are Evelyn Koch, Osage City, Regina Koch, Marysville, Lucille Fox, St. Marys, Rose McGeeney and Mary Hunninghake, both of Seneca, and Betty Ketter, Topeka. Also, many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins survive. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Irene Koch and Marjorie Eagan; and her brother, John Eagan. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew's Church. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Gen will lie in state from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at the church, where a parish rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew's Church, 2700 S.E.
