Description	:	Genevieve Lee Filips, age 83 of Crofton, Nebraska, died on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 10:30 am at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton with Rev. Timothy Podraza officiating. Burial will be in the St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Crofton. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm at the Wintz Funeral Home in Crofton. Genny was born on April 7, 1933 at Crofton, NE to Cliff and Irene (O'Connor) Crumpacker. As a young child she and her family moved from Crofton to the Los Angeles, CA area. She graduated from high school in California and then attended the St. Elizabeth Nursing School in Los Angeles. She married Paul Troxel and to this union 3 sons were born, Cliff, Dan and John. Genny worked as a registered nurse in the Los Angeles area for 25 years. She went back to school in San Francisco and received her Master's Degree as a Nurse Practitioner and practiced medicine for 17 years at the VA Hospital in Livermore, CA. Genny and Alfred Filips met again at the Crofton Centennial in 1992 and she moved back to Crofton in 1993 and married Alfred in September of 1995 in Las Vegas. Genny was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Crofton. She liked antiques and she an Alfred had the AlGens antique store in Crofton for several years. She liked reading, bird watching and loved her cats. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and grandkids. Genny is survived by her husband, Alfred of Crofton, 3 sons, Cliff Troxell of California, Dan Troxell of Reno, NV; John and Tammy Troxell of Clipper Bay, CA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, 2 step daughters, Brenda and Dale Elsasser of Omaha; Rhonda and Kevin Schieffer of Riverton, WY and 3 step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her older twin sisters, Irene and Geraldine Crumpacker. Alfred would like to thank Doctors Barnes and Hurley, the nurses and medical staff at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital and the Yankton Medical Clinic, and the staff at the various care centers where she had resided for the kind and compassionate care she received.
