Description	:	On May 27, 1922, John and Elsie Neiman Jacobs welcomed the birth of their fourth child, George Adam Jacobs at their home in Cheyenne County, a mile north of the Kiowa County line. Although George Adam weighed less than five pounds at birth, he lived 86 years, 6 months and 16 days until his death on December 13, 2008 at the Weisbrod Hospital in Eads. Read More	On May 27, 1922, John and Elsie Neiman Jacobs welcomed the birth of their fourth child, George Adam Jacobs at their home in Cheyenne County, a mile north of the Kiowa County line. Although George Adam weighed less than five pounds at birth, he lived 86 years, 6 months and 16 days until his death on December 13, 2008 at the Weisbrod Hospital in Eads. Except for less than a year spent in Pennsylvania during the dust bowl days of 19335-1936, he enjoyed his early days in Colorado, learning the elements of farming which was to be his life love and vocation. To his dismay, he was “frozen” on the farm during World War II. During this time he saw many of his friends from Cheyenne and Kiowa Counties inducted into the service, however, the Lord sent a special blessing to him in the person of Jean Marion Hoffmann, daughter of a local minister and wife, Rev. Henry and Irene (Snow) Hoffmann. They were married at the parsonage home in Eads on February 17, 1944. After a few years, George and Jean bought a farm and built a new house in Kiowa County, twenty miles northwest of Eads, and were on their own. Their three daughters, Patricia DeeAnne, Carol Jean and Elsie Marlene, were all reared on the farm. They remember the wonderful family time with their parents helping with the farm chores, going swimming, fishing, family reunions, country adventures and the pure enjoyment of rain that their dad showed. The enire family went to church every Sunday, and George held several positions in the management of the EUB Church in Eads, including Superintendent of the Sunday School, Youth Activities, various boards and also helped with the addition of the church and the basement. He also served on many of the local farm boards and committees. After George retired from farming they built a new home a few miles west of Eads. But even then George didn’t really retire completely. He loved helping on the farm, especially at harvest time. He did take time to keep up the two favorite sports, bowling and horse shoes for many years. They hosted the Jacobs family Thanksgiving at their new home for a number of years, and also kept un with their growing family, DeeAnne’s two, Mary Sue and Tony Kahler, Carol Jean’s family, Cindy, Cheri, Jimmy and Joel Barnard and Marlene’s three children, Kelli, Chad and Jon Rouse. They also have twelve great grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters: LeRoy, Edgar, Louise, Sara, Frank and Leonard Lee. He will be missed by his wife, Jean, his three daughters, and his sisters Hazel (Gene) Krueger and Ruthann Jacobs and other in laws, relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at the Eads United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nancy Peacock officiating. Love Lieble was the pianist and Mary Eikner and Sylvia Weeks were the vocalists. Final committal services were held at the Eads Cemetery. Funeral services were entrusted to the care of the Brown Funeral Home in Eads. Published by the Brown Funeral Home, Eads.
