Slonecker, son of Alonzo and Mary Everetts Slonecker, was born near Seward, Nebraska, on May 17, 1879, and passed from this life on the morning of November 29, 1938, in Bryan Memorial hosiptal (sic) in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was the eldest of a family of five children. One brother and one sister died in infancy. The other brother, Roy, passed away in 1908. In 1902 he was united in the holy bond of matrimony to Miss Eva Emerson at Tamora, Nebraska. Into this home came one son, Geo. A. Jr., of Burlington, Wash., who with his mother survive. In early manhood Geo. was truly converted and later joined the M. E. church (sic) at Tamora, Nebraska. He later transferred his membership to the Edgar M. E. church (sic). His philosophy of life and his relation to his fellows were most worthwhile. His was a fine type of citizenship. He was an ardent Bible student and possessed a profound knowledge of the Scriptures. He was an interested attendant of the M. E. Sunday school and at the time of his passing was teacher of the Senior Bible class. He was a kind husband and father and the unique position that he held in the community will be hard to fill. He was a member in good standing of Edgar Lodge No. 80 I. O.O.F. His life exemplified the three great principles of Odd Fellowship--Friendship, Love and Truth. He leaves to mourn his departure, his beloved wife and his son; his aged mother, Mrs. Mary Slonecker; his sister, Mrs. Madge Brooks and numerous relatives and a host of friends. The funeral service was held in the Edgar M. E. church (sic) Friday, December 2, and was conducted by Rev. Raymond Rush, assisted by Rev. S. G. Rasmusson of Ohiowa. The singers were Mrs. Alvie Bueoy, Miss Gladys Hunter, Irvin Essinger and M. E. Cushing with Mrs. Lydia Phelps at the piano. The pall bearers were: Andrew Hoffman, W. R. Nicholls, C. H. Gass, B. G. Rydholm, E. J. Bohling and Will Reid. Interments was in the Edgar cemetery (sic). .
