Description	:	George Berryman, knowm as "Al," was a Police Officer in Kokomo, Indiana. He served 6 years and 10 months for the Police Force, dying in the line of duty at age 41. Officer Berryman and his partner were responding to a domestic disturbance at 1201 Mulberry Street. A man's wife reported her husband had choked her before she was able to flee to a neighbors home. Upon the Police Officers arrival, Officer Berryman's partner shined a flashlight at the suspects door, where the suspect was standing, holding a shotgun. He served 6 years and 10 months for the Police Force, dying in the line of duty at age 41. Officer Berryman and his partner were responding to a domestic disturbance at 1201 Mulberry Street. Upon the Police Officers arrival, Officer Berryman's partner shined a flashlight at the suspects door, where the suspect was standing, holding a shotgun. He attempted to warn Officer Berryman, but the suspect fired through the door, striking Officer Berryman in the head. Officer Berryman's partner returned fire twice into the home. The suspect was hit and found dead, by his two sleeping children. In May, 2005, 51 1/2 years after the incident, Officer Berryman was awarded the Department's Medal of Valor, posthumously.
