The couple observed their 60th wedding anniversary Jan. 27. The service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Evangelical Christian Church, 200 South St., Hanover. Burial will be in Jefferson Cemetery in Codorus. Viewing will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. The Geiple Funeral Home Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Grote was born Aug. 30, 1920, in Manheim Township. He was the son of the late George R. and Sarah (Werner) Grote. He was the general office manager of Beach Filter Products Inc., Glen Rock RD 1, retiring in 1985 after more than 25 years of service; prior to that, he was a self-employed plumber for 11 years. He was a member of Evangelical Christian Church in Hanover, where he was treasurer for several years; a member of the Prayer Breakfast Group; and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines Theatre of Operations. Mr. Grote also is survived by two sons, Robert E. Grote and Dean L. Grote, both of Hanover; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and a sister, Rosa J. Bortner of New Oxford. Mr. Grote was preceded in death by a grandson. Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Ethan L. Levengood, assisted by the Rev. Leonard L. Wolfgang, a retired pastor of the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Evangelical Christian Church Memorial Fund, 200 South St., Hanover 17331.
