George was born on September 25, 1919, in Leroy Township, rural Tripoli, Bremer County, Iowa, the son of William and Hulda (Krueger) Hagen. He was baptized on October 19, 1919, in St. Paul's Evangelical Church, Leroy Township by Rev. A. Wainberlich and confirmed on March 20, 1932, at St. Peter's Evangelical Church, Tripoli, Iowa, by Rev. George was born on September 25, 1919, in Leroy Township, rural Tripoli, Bremer County, Iowa, the son of William and Hulda (Krueger) Hagen. He was baptized on October 19, 1919, in St. Paul's Evangelical Church, Leroy Township by Rev. A. Wainberlich and confirmed on March 20, 1932, at St. Peter's Evangelical Church, Tripoli, Iowa, by Rev. Karl Koehler. George's memory verse was 1 Timothy, Chapter 6 Verse 12 "Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life". George attended school at LeRoy #4, rural Tripoli. On July 11, 1941, George was united in marriage to Eldora Bahlman in St. Peters Evangelical Church, Tripoli, Iowa, by Rev. Theo Thomas and their memory verse was Ruth 1 Verse 16, "Whether thou goest I will go; and where thou lodgest I will lodge, thy people shall be my people and thy God my God," To this union three children were born, Barbara Ann, Mary Jean and Steven William. The couple farmed north of Tripoli for several years and in 1968, George started working for Viking Pump in Cedar Falls. IN 1973, he retired from farming and the couple moved to Tripoli and later to Denver. George retired in 1984 from Viking Pump, following 16 years of service. George was a faithful member of Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli. He served for several years on Leroy #4 School Board and also on the Creamery Board of Tripoli. George also served on St. Peter's Church Council, serving as Treasurer and Financial Secretary for several years. He enjoyed playing cards, gardening, crossword puzzles and was an avid Cubs Baseball Fan. George is survived by his loving wife, Eldora Hagen, of Marshalltown, Iowa; one daughter and her husband, Mary Jean (Gary) Heinemann of Sloan, Iowa; one son and his wife, Steven William (Becky) Hagen of Marshalltown, Iowa; 6 grandchildren, Nancy Heinemann, Susan (Eric) Rose, Joel (Tracy) Heinemann, Ben Hagen, Mike (Kim) Hagen and Alicia (Tony) Jacobson; 9 great grandchildren, Adam and Ethan Rose, Broc and Brooklyn Heinemann and Lucas and Katelynn Hagen, Brennan Jacobson; two sisters, Elda Munsterman of Powell Butte, Oregon, Gertrude Craig of Grundy Center, Iowa; and one half-brother, Gerald Bock of St. Louis, Missouri. George was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Ann in infancy, his father in 1927, mother in 1960, and step-father, Theo Bock in 1969. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 2, 2012, at Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli, Iowa. Burial of his cremains will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 2, in Faith United Church of Christ Cemetery in Tripoli. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, at the Funeral Home in Denver. Memorials may be directed to the family.
