Description	:	George A. Johnson – age 82, of Albert City, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012, at the Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa. George Allen Johnson was born November 28, 1929 to Gunnard and Carrie (Aspholm) Johnson. He lived with his parents on a farm two miles east and half a mile south of Albert City. Johnson – age 82, of Albert City, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012, at the Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa. George Allen Johnson was born November 28, 1929 to Gunnard and Carrie (Aspholm) Johnson. He lived with his parents on a farm two miles east and half a mile south of Albert City. He went to school in Albert City, graduating in 1948. He attended business college in Omaha, Nebraska where he met his wife, Darlene. The couple were married in June of 1950. They were blessed with two children, Becky and Scott. George enjoyed life as a farmer and living and raising his family in the country one and a half miles east of Albert City. George was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Nothing made him happier than having family gatherings and being surrounded by loved ones. He will always be remembered for his friendly, caring ways as well as his sense of humor. George was also an avid artist and doodler, airplanes being his specialty. When not working in the field, he enjoyed playing cards and games with family and friends, often times being the scorekeeper because of his quick mental math. He was often a strong supporter of his grandchildren's games and activities. When the weather permitted, he loved to travel, whether it was across the United States or just to the local grain elevator. George's passion to explore and learn was especially strong when dealing with history, as his library of Civil War books and World War II books would testify. George was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bill Johnson and sister-in-law, Gwen. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Darlene; daughter Becky McFarland and husband Dan; son Scott Johnson and wife Kathy; grandchildren: Tammi (Sean) Newell of Polk City, IA; Shane (January Johnson) McFarland of Sioux Falls, SD; Heidi McFarland of Ankeny, IA; Kaitlin (Jacob) Peters of Salina, KS; Brandon Johnson; and great-grandchildren: Sofia Newell and Elise Peters.
