Description	:	George Alonzo Felton, son of Alonzo and Mary Tenny Felton, was born July 21, 1850, and died March 25, 1938; at the age of 87 years and 10 months. He pased away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ira Overton of Clay Center with whom he had made his home for some time. Read More	George Alonzo Felton, son of Alonzo and Mary Tenny Felton, was born July 21, 1850, and died March 25, 1938; at the age of 87 years and 10 months. He pased away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ira Overton of Clay Center with whom he had made his home for some time. While in his early teens he, with his parents, moved to Oberlin, Ohio, in order that the family might have the advantage of the Oberlin college. In 1869, at the age of nineteen, he started "west." He worked in Illinois, worked and taught school in Iowa. In 1871 he came overland by ox team to Nebraska and located on a homestead in Nuckolls county (sic). In 1874 he was married to Anna M. Littrell (sic) who has preceded him in death - August, 1935. To this union were born ten children. Five daughters remain to mourn the passing of their father. They are: Mrs. Alice Adamson, Wauneta, Nebr.; Mrs. Zella Overton, Clay Center, Nebr.; Mrs. Sarah Moore, Greeley, Colorado; Mrs. Jennie Humerickhouse, Loveland, Colorado; and Stell Kay, Marseland, Nebr. There are 22 grand children and 22 great grand children. Surviving also is his aged brother, Will Felton of Angus, Nebr. Mr. Felton accepted Christ as his Savior early in life and was baptized into the likeness of His death, burial and resurrection. In 1873 he united with the Oxbow Christian Church, being the first addition to that congregation after it was organized and chartered. He labored with that congregation for sixty full years. He and his good wife moved to Edgar in 1933 and transferred their membership to the Christian Church there. Mr. Felton has always had an intensive interest in his home, church, community and state. In addition to his many local interests he served for two terms in the state legislature -- 1891-1893. His inspiring presence will be missed, but his influence for good will live on and on in the hearts of his many friends and relatives. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 27, from the Edgar Christian Church, in charge of W.J. Etherton and Robert E. Hanson. Burial was made in the family lot in the Edgar cemetery (sic).
