He had been at the hospital about ten days. Mr. McCann overcame a heart attack about eight years ago,and while during that period was not robust,enjoyed that extended time of usefulness and satisfaction with his maturing family. He was born at Athbone, Canada, April 8, 1858, he was 79 years, two months and 24 days of age at the time of his passing. He came to the United States and located at Conway, N.D., where he engaged in the mercantile business. His health being affected by the confinement of indoor work, he came to Kansas 39 years ago, purchasing a farm near McLains, owing a farm home and residing in that vicinity the remainder of his life. Mr. McCann was twice married, his first wife Ora, passed away June 9, 1900. In 1903, he was married to Martha Huffman, who survives. He is also survived by a family of sons and daughters who have grown to manhood and womanhood as a credit and comfort to him. They are: Dora D. Eberhard, Glendale, Calif., Everet McCann, Newton; Myrtle M. Grove, Newton; Gordon V. McCann, Burbank, Calif.; Ethel E. Herrick, Newton; Cecil R. McCann, Newton; Leo McCann, Newton; Lola(Nola) McCann, Sana Monica, Calif.; Lucile McCann, Newton. Funeral services will be conducted at the home, three miles south and three and one half miles east of newton, at 5:30 Saturday afternoon, in charge of the Rev. S. W. Keller, pastor of the Newton Methodist church. Interment will be in Greenwood cemetery. Pall bearers will be friends and neighbors of many years standing, J. D. Hall, Glenn Phillips, Al Scheffler, Dave Kilpatrick, Henry Sadowsky and John Fluke.
