Tuesday morning while attempting to help some campers out of the floodwater, by which they were surrounded, about five miles southwest of Humboldt, George Brady was likely taken by cramps and drowned. These campers, three men, their wives and children had come over from Leanna to fish and had been warned not to camp there as it was a dangerous place and the river was rising very fast. All the campers were saved, the neighbors aroused, a boat secured and a two day search was made for the body, which was not found until Thursday morning. The deceased was a married man, leaving a wife and one child and an aged father to mourn his loss. He was a hard worker, honest and faithful and his friends are pained at the sudden ending of his life. George B. Brady married November 26, 1896 in Allen county, Kansas to Emma Alice Gordon, the daughter of Parker C. Gordon & Samantha Jane Allen. George B. & Emma Alice Brady had one child, Hugh Vernon Brady, born 1898 in Allen county, Kansas.
