George Benjamin Dannen was born on July 31, 1931, on his family farm south of Lennox, the son George Eli and Maggie (Smit) Dannen. He grew up here and attended Pleasant View Country School #31. George Benjamin Dannen was born on July 31, 1931, on his family farm south of Lennox, the son George Eli and Maggie (Smit) Dannen. He grew up here and attended Pleasant View Country School #31. He graduated from Lennox High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1954. On March 28, 1961 he married Doris Van Buren. One son, Daniel was born to this union. The couple farmed south of Lennox. After retiring from farming they continued to live on their farm. Doris died on February 20, 2014. George was an active member of the Delaware Reformed Church, where he served as Elder, Deacon, treasurer and on the Delaware Cemetery Board. Besides his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents. Grateful for having shared his life are son, Dan Dannen, Hurley and three grandchildren: Analis, Anthony and Natascha; as well as other relatives and friends.
