Description	:	George B. Mozley George B. Mozley age 83 of Malone formerly of Panama City passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 in the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was born in Jackson County on July 15, 1928 to the late Edwin Leslie and Della Anderson Mosley. At the age of 10 he boarded an open top train headed to St. Augustine, FL to enroll in the school for the deaf and blind. Mozley age 83 of Malone formerly of Panama City passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 in the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was born in Jackson County on July 15, 1928 to the late Edwin Leslie and Della Anderson Mosley. At the age of 10 he boarded an open top train headed to St. Augustine, FL to enroll in the school for the deaf and blind. He studied diligently and upon graduation was given a position with the vending program. His stand was housed in the lobby of the old down town Panama City Post office where he made many lifelong friends with business owners in the down town district. George spoke fondly of starting his days with breakfast at the restaurant in the old Greyhound bus station that his friends owned. George had a great love of music. With his acute sense of hearing and his ability to memorize songs and excellent vocal range he quickly became a valued choir member of the First United Methodist Church of Panama City where he sang in harmony for 38 years. His desire to help other blind people led him to become a member of the Panama City Lions Club. During his fifty years as a valued member he received a lifetime membership and the Melvin Jones Fellow award for dedicated humanitarian service. Each meeting was opened with George leading the Star Spangled Banner. His last five years were spent in retirement near his family home. His days were filled listening to his radio and his "talking books", making new friends, and spending time with family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters; Frances Breland, Della Johnson, Lois Harris, Florence Jordan, Gertrude Roche, Christine Woolley and his brother William A. Mozley. Mr. Mozley is survived by one brother Edwin L. Mozley and his wife Hazel of Malone and a host of nieces and nephews. Services for Mr. Mozley will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 23, 2012 in the First United Methodist Church of Malone with Rev. Raymond Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Collins Chapel Cemetery. A time of remembrance will be held from 10:00 A.M. until time of service. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the American Printing House for the Blind at P.O. Box 6085, Louisville, KY 40206-0085 or the American Foundation for the Blind to Attention Audrey Taylor at 2 Penn Plaza, Suite 1102, New York, NY 10121. Marianna Chapel Funeral Home is in charge arrangements.
