Mr. Wilcox, familiarly known as "Bus" passed away Wednesday morning, December 21, at a Hayward, California hospital where he had been hospitalized for about two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Wilcox had gone to San Leandro, California, early in November to spend the winter with their daughters and families. Mr. Wilcox had partially recovered from the efforts of a stroke suffered a few months ago but was again stricken after going to California. A son of George and Mary Anna Wilcox, George Wilcox Jr. was born December 4, 1890, on the family homestead near Holyoke. He attended grade school and high school here and entered the U.S. Army on May 29, 1918, serving until October 2, 1919. On May 6, 1921, he was united in marriage with Ruth L. Blackledge at Alma, Nebraska. To this union two daughters were born, both of whom survive. Mr. Wilcox was a carpenter and mechanic for many years and later engaged in farming on what had been his father's homestead northeast of Holyoke. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Holyoke Golf Club and Paoli Gun Club. Surviving are his wife, Ruth; two daughters, Lois, Mrs. Howard Lohman, and Carolyn, Mrs. LaVonne Brown, both of San Leandro, California; one sister, Mrs. Mabel Mason, Proctor, Colorado; one brother, Burt Wilcox, Apache Junction, Arizona; five grandchildren; one great grandson; and many other relatives and friends. Preceding Mr. Wilcox in death were his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
