That is also the date of birth on his gravestone, and I am using that date on this memorial. --------------- Obituary From "Ottumwa tri-weekly courier," Tuesday, November 8, 1910: CHADWICK–Monday, Nov. 7 at 12:50 p.m., George Chadwick, at the family home, corner Clay and Mill streets. The decedent had been ill for the past three weeks with Bright's disease. He was a native of Hedrick, but had lived in Ottumwa for the past fourteen years. He was 39 years, 2 months and 18 days old. Until ill health prevented him working, he was employed as a machinist by the Hardsocg Manufacturing Co. He is survived by a wife and two children. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. ---------------------------------------------- Obituary From "Ottumwa Courier," November 12, 1910: George C. Chadwick was born near Hedrick, Ia., August 22, 1871 and died in Ottumwa, November 7, 1910, aged 39 years 2 months and 17 days. He lived with his parents until July 19, 1891, when he was united in marriage to Miss Ola Ulin. Two daughters and one son was born to the union, the son having died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife, two daughters, father, mother, two brothers and three sisters. He was converted to the faith during the William A. Sunday meetings which were held in Ottumwa a few years ago. He was employed by the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railway Co., for five years, after which he was employed by the Hardsocg Manufacturing Co., where he worked up to the time of his last illness. He was a hard working, industrious man, always looking forward to the best interests of his loved ones. He will be sadly missed, not only in his immediate family but among the hosts of friends who survive him. Funeral services were conducted from the First Christian church, Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 9, at 2 o'clock, S. Isaac Elder, pastor of the Davis Street Christian church officiating. Interment in Shaul cemetery. ---------------------------------------------- Ottumwa tri-weekly courier, November 15, 1910: Many friends attended the funeral services over the remains of George Chadwick at the First Christian church yesterday afternoon. The decedent passed away Monday afternoon at his home, corner of Clay and Mill streets. Rev. S. Isaac Elder, pastor of the Davis Street Christian church, conducted the services. The floral tributes were beautiful. The remains were interred in Shaul cemetery. The pallbearers, all fellow workmen of the deceased were, P. G. Drummond, J. S. Bradley, W. Knight, B. Knight, J. Wagoner and J. Farrington.
