Rev. O. K. Oelke officiated and interment was in Hillside (sic) Cemetery. George Stark, son of C. G. and Adeline Stark was born May 25, 1862 at New York City and passed away at Grand Island, Nebraska at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Louis Schomburg, at the age of 88 years, 4 months, and 1 day. In childhood he was baptized in the Lutheran Church in New York City. At the age of 22 he pioneered to Nebraska and homesteaded on a farm 12 miles south of Stanton, where he experienced all the hardships of pioneer life. On April 26, 1893 he was united in marriage to Louise M. Ebeling. To this union were born four daughters, Mrs. Hattie McCray, Mrs. Millie McCormick, Mrs. Estella Schomburg and Mrs. Addie Schomburg, who preceded him in death in 1936. In 1910 he moved to a farm 8 miles east of Wolbach, where Mrs. Stark died on April 22, 1914. In 1916 he was united in marriage to Nellie C. Barr. To this union were born three step-daughters, Lizzie Terry, Lela McNabb and Clara Bower; four step-sons, Al, Scott, Clarence and George Barr. They resided on the farm until the death of Mrs. Stark on March 16, 1943. Mr. Stark made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Louis Schomburg at Cushing for a few years, later moving to Wolbach, where he resided until the time of his death. He was a kind and devoted husband and father and will be greatly missed by all. Though suffering greatly during his illness, his cheerful disposition prevailed. He leaves to mourn his departure a sister, Mrs. Addie McKeiver of Rye, New York, three daughters, Hattie McCray of Fullerton, Millie McCormick of Lincoln and Estella Schomburg of Grand Island, three step-daughters, Lizzie Terry of Belle, California, Lela McNabb of Big Fork, Montana and Clara Bower of Wolbach, four stepsons, Al and Scott of Wolbach, Clarence Barr of Salem, Oregon, and George Barr of Denver, Colorado, 46 grandchildren and 85 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
