A native of Union County, He was a son of Ruth Wix Gregory and the late George Carlton Gregory Sr. and was the husband of Elizabeth Farmer Gregory. He was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday school superintendent, trustee, Outreach leader, Training Union director and was a member of the Church Choir. Read More	George Carlton Gregory Jr., 57, of 233 Bailey Road died Feb. 11, 2003, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. A native of Union County, He was a son of Ruth Wix Gregory and the late George Carlton Gregory Sr. and was the husband of Elizabeth Farmer Gregory. He was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday school superintendent, trustee, Outreach leader, Training Union director and was a member of the Church Choir. He was a member of the Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department for 41 years and was assistant fire chief and treasurer. He was named Firefighter of the Year at the fire department in 1998 and 1999 and was a memver of the Union County Fireman's Association where he was named Union County Fireman of the Year in 1978. In 1998 and 1999, he received the J.W. Sullivan Memorial Award for Firefighter of the Year and in 2001, the John L. Kingsmoore Sr. Chief's Adward. He was a 1963 graduate of Union High School and received his bachelors degree from the University of South Carolina. He was formerly employed as an agent with Liberty Life Insurance Company and had worked at the United Merchants' Buffalo plant. He was retired from the South Carolina Department of Corrections, Tyger River Facility. Active in community affairs, he was a member of the Band-Aide Club, a former member of the South Carolina National Guards, Union Unit and had served as a C.P.R. instructor. He was most recently performed in the Boogaloo Broadcasting Company's performances of 'Turn the Wash Pot Down' and 'Best Christmas Pageant Ever.'
