Mr. Carstensen was driving along Main street in Cedar Falls, and, as he made a left turn onto a side street, the rear of his automobile was struck by another car driven by Kenneth Kern, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Read More	Obit from Sumner Gazette - June 27, 1935 Page 1 Brother of John Winter Fatally Injured Tuesday George Carstensen, a brother of John Winter of this place, was killed last week in an automobile accident at Cedar Falls and was buried Friday at Tripoli. Mr. Carstensen was driving along Main street in Cedar Falls, and, as he made a left turn onto a side street, the rear of his automobile was struck by another car driven by Kenneth Kern, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Kern of Cedar Falls. The elderly man was apparently thrown through the windshield of his car onto the street. He suffered severe lacerations about the head, one lung was punctured and there were several broken ribs. He died sometime later at the Sartori hospital in Cedar Falls a few hours after the accident occurred. Mr. Carstensen is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Charles J. Bishop and Mrs. Floyd Sherk, both of Cedar Falls, and by a sister, Mrs. Reaky Piegors of Tripoli, and a brother John Winter of Sumner. The body was taken to Tripoli for burial where Mr. Carstensen had lived for many years. He left Bremer county 15 years ago to move to Cedar Falls. Information supplied by Linda Hagedorn Finley
