The rest of the obituary, his name is spelled correctly. George C. Bowman died unexpectedly at 1:45 this morning at his home here. He had been in feeble health for some time. He was a charter member of the Mathias Ruritan Club and a member of the Lost City Baptist Church. He was born at Mathias, being the son of Isaac and Rebecca See Bowman. His wife, the former Miss. Ella See, died in 1953. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Avis Abbott and Mrs. Ruby Bean, a son, Dwight Bowman, all of Mathias, a brother, L.J. Bowman, of Nokesville, and three sisters, Mrs. Frank Mastin, Washington, Mrs. Weldon Shickle, Broadway, and Mrs. James Caplinger, Mathias. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock from the Garrett's EUB Chapel, the Revs. E.E. Sumpter, Robert Nair, and Wendell Mathias officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be, Ward Strawderman, Max Spitzer, Stanley See, Harry Albrite, Woodrow Mathias, and Roscoe May.
