Read More	FOSTER COUNTY INDEPENDENT Carrington, North Dakota June 1945 Friends and relatives of varies localities of Foster County, gathered at the Federated Church here Tuesday afternoon to attend funeral rites for George Stedman, 64 a long time farmer in Larrabee Township. And more recently a resident of Carrington, who passed away at 2:00 A.M. last Saturday morning in the local hospital. Mr. Stedman had under gone surgery in a Fargo hospital, during the second week in May. After his release from the hospital, he and Mrs. Stedman spent a week visiting in Fargo with relatives before coming back to Carrington. Taking sick again, Mr. Stedman entered the Carrington hospital, May 31, and failed to rally to treatment. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. J. Ralph McNeil, Pastor in the Federate Church. Rev. Sylvan Stemen, Pastor in the Brethren Church, read from the Scriptures, and offered prayer. The Nazarene Choir, from the Hebron locality sang during the service here. Burial was at the cemetery at Grace City, where Rev. Stemen was in charge of the last rites. Mrs. Harold Topp and Mrs. Wallace Topp sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" at the graveside. Pallbearers were Lester Wright, Lammon Duckworth, Henry Topp, Arthur Langseth, Walter Larson and Joseph Kreps. Relatives coming a long distance to attend the rites, include a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Bragg of Fargo. A son-in-law and daughter, Mr. & Mrs. Edwin Hjelseth of Portland Oregon. A sister-in-law Mrs. S. J. Zeller of Hecla South Dakota. And a Nephew and Niece, Mr. & Mrs. Fred Rawlins, of Fergus Falls Minn. George was born, June 10, 1881 in Fredericksburg Iowa. There he grew to manhood. He Graduated from the Fredericksburg High School in 1901. And on September 25, 1901, he was married to a Lura May Whitman of Fredericksburg, at New Hampton Iowa. The couple came to Carrington in March 1907 and bought a farm in Larrabee Township where they lived until they moved to Carrington on June 26, 1944. Mr. Stedman was a member of the Methodist Church in Iowa. In 1909, he joined the Brethren Church, and was an active worker in the church. He was a Sunday School Superintendent at Grace City, Haven, and Rosehill for 15 years. During the past winter, Mr. Stedman was janitor in the Federate Church. Survivors are his wife, and following children: Neal, Merle, Violet (Mrs. Orin Topp), Cora (Mrs. Raymond Dreher), all of Grace City. Marguerite (Mrs. Donald Topp), Florence (Mrs. Howard Topp), and Clarence all of Juanita. Keith of Carrington, Lareen (Mrs. Edwin Hjelseth), of Portland Oregon, Luella (Mrs. Wm. Bragg), of Fargo. A daughter, Leona Pearl, preceded him in death 19 years ago. Also surviving is one brother, Arthur, of LaCrosse Indiana. A half sister, Mrs. Anna Fueller, of Kenyon Minn. And 19 Grandchildren.
