Description	:	George C. Simmons, 83, was born at Green Bay, Wisconsin, September 20, 1857, the son of Joel and Sarah Jane Simmons and was the eldest of five children born to his parents. He passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Sherman, in Waterloo at 6:25 am Sunday of a heart attack. At the age of three years, he moved with his parents to Iowa. Read More	George C. Simmons, 83, was born at Green Bay, Wisconsin, September 20, 1857, the son of Joel and Sarah Jane Simmons and was the eldest of five children born to his parents. He passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Sherman, in Waterloo at 6:25 am Sunday of a heart attack. At the age of three years, he moved with his parents to Iowa. They settled in Chickasaw County and near Frederika where he resided for a number of years before moving into Frederika. During the past three years he had retained his home here but had lived in Waterloo at various times. He was united in marriage with Miss Martha R. Hinkley of Frederika, December 25, 1882. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Harry R. Miller and Mrs. Irene Sherman of Omaha, Mrs. Carl D. Smith of Castle Hill, Mrs. Calvin C. Thompson and Mrs. Frank Sherman of Waterloo and eleven grandchildren; also a sister Mrs. Clara Ross of Frederika and a brother, Fred, of Fredericksburg. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1932 and a son in 1912 and by a sister and a brother. The funeral rites were held Tuesday. A prayer service was conducted at Waterloo at 1 pm by the Rev. Harold Singer, pastor of the St. Paul's Methodist Church. The funeral service following at 2:30 pm in the Methodist Church in Frederika; the pastor, the Rev. G. M. Shoemaker, officiating.
