Description	:	Mrs. George Simmons, a resident of this community since girlhood, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carol Sherman, in Waterloo Friday morning, Jan. 29, 1932. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Methodist Church at Frederika. Rev. A. W. Gable was in charge of the services at Frederika and burial was made in the Alcock Cemetery, west of Frederika. Read More	Mrs. George Simmons, a resident of this community since girlhood, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carol Sherman, in Waterloo Friday morning, Jan. 29, 1932. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Methodist Church at Frederika. Rev. A. W. Gable was in charge of the services at Frederika and burial was made in the Alcock Cemetery, west of Frederika. Mrs. Simmons had been in failing health for some time but her fatal illness began more than a year ago. She had been at her daughter's home since last fall. Before her marriage, Mrs. Simmons was Martha Hinkley, the daughter of William and Mary Baxter Hinkley. She was born June 9, 1859, in Cherry, Illinois. In her girl-hood she came with her parents to Frederika where she attended the rural schools of the township. She was married to George Simmons, Dec. 25, 1882, at the home of her parents in Frederika. Through life she was active in church work. She was baptized in the Methodist Church early in life and joined the church at Frederika. She was a member of the church board, held offices in the Sunday School and was a member of the ladies aid society, serving as president for many years. She is survived by her husband, five daughters; Mrs. Irene Sherman of Maryville, Miss., Mrs. Blanche Miller of Omaha, NE, Mrs. Carol Sherman, Mrs. Mollie Thompson, and Mrs. Nellie Smith of Waterloo, a brother, Robert Hinkley of Los Angeles, CA, and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, David, who died in 1888, a brother and sister, who died in infancy and her only son, Paul R., who died in 1912, at the age of 14 years.
