Description	:	George D. Williams of Burke, S.D., a former resident of this vicinity, passed away Sunday morning following a stroke which he suffered on Tuesday of last week. His remains were brought to Hawarden overland and arrived Monday evening, accompanied by his wife and three daughters. Brief funeral services were held at the Barnard Funeral Home followed by services at the Associated church Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Chas. Read More	George D. Williams of Burke, S.D., a former resident of this vicinity, passed away Sunday morning following a stroke which he suffered on Tuesday of last week. His remains were brought to Hawarden overland and arrived Monday evening, accompanied by his wife and three daughters. Brief funeral services were held at the Barnard Funeral Home followed by services at the Associated church Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Chas. Schofield, pastor of the Union Congregational church of Gregory, S.D., in charge. Interment was made in Grace Hill cemetery. George D. Wiliams was born Sept. 6, 1872, and died Aug. 23, 1931, at the age of 58 years, 11 months and 7 days. He came to Union county with his parents in 1885 and they settled on a farm near Hawarden. His father passed away in 1887 and Mr. Williams and his brother Jesse lived on the farm. He attended the Calliope high school from which he graduated and later he attended a Normal school for two years. He engaged in the teaching profession for two years. He was a student of medicine and had planned to enter some branch of that profession but through ill health he was compelled to give up this ambition. Throughout his life, however, he never lost interest in that profession. He was united in marriage with Minnie B. Peck Dec. 17, 1902, and they lived at Beresford. In 1906 they moved to Oakdale, Neb., and in 1913 they moved to Burke, S.D., where they have resided continuously since that time. He is survived by his wife and three daughters, Leta Enid, Jessie J. and Georgia Wilma. He also leaves one brother, Levi F. Williams of Almeria, Neb. He was a member of the Unitarian church in Sioux City. Mr. Williams was a man of deep religious convictions. He was liberal on his outlook on life. He was a fearless seeker after the truth but he possessed a very kindly and generous spirit. From his general attitude one could easily gather that his faith in life was of a very practical kind. The experiences of life had taught him tact, charity and patience, and kindness was a marked characteristic of his life. In his attitude towards others he was brotherly and thoughtful.
