BURIED MONDAY Young Man Died Last Week Of Pneumonia George Dewey (Sonny) Cox, Jr., highly-esteemed young man of Crisfield, passed away at the McCready Memorial Hospital early Friday morning, January 10th after a brief illness of five days, of pneumonia. He was in his 22nd year. Born February 21, 1925, he was the son of George Dewey, Sr., and the late Sarah Hickman Cox, both of Somerset County. A lad of sterling qualities, Sonny developed early into a young man of industry, self-respect and high moral character. To know him was to love him and his death will be a heartfelt loss, not only to relatives but to many, many friends as well. His body rested Saturday and Sunday at Bradshaw Funeral Parlors, where an almost endless line of friends called to pay their respect to the deceased. Many beautiful floral sprays were sent in sympathy. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2.00 o'clock from Mariners Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Harvey O. Hufnal, pastor, the church being filled to capacity with loved ones and friends. Interment was in the Family Private Cemetery, Mariners Section. Pallbearers were Messrs. Edwin Sterling, Edwin Daugherty, Lewis Daugherty, Willie Dize, Willie Daugherty and Billy Daugherty. He is survived by his father, George Dewey Cox, Sr., two sisters, Mrs. Clinton Holland, Snow Hill and Mrs. Gordon Bell, Crisfield; one brother, Benjamin Cox, Chester, Pa., and grandparents George Thomas Hickman, Chester, Pa., and Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Davis, Crisfield.
