Description	:	Head, George Edward, 84, died May 11 at Municipal Hospital. He had been a patient at Young's Nursing Home for seven months. Mr Head had farmed in the College Springs area for many years, retiring to an acreage near College Springs with his wife, the former Carrie Johnson. Mrs Head survives with two sisters, Mary and Alice Head of Clarinda. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church in College Springs at 2 pm Friday. CLARINDA HERALD JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, May 12, 1966 George Edward Head, the son of John S. and Elizabeth M. Head was born May 16, 1881 in Taylor County near Hawleyville, Ia, and passed away May 11, 1966, at the Municipal Hospital at Clarinda, Iowa. He was of a family of five children. His parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death. He grew to manhood in Taylor County, Iowa and was a farmer living in many different communities in Taylor and Page Counties. On Dec 23, 1908, he was married to Miss Carrie B. Johnson of Hepburn, Iowa. They live in various communities and in 1941 they purchased their present home near College Springs, Iowa. He had been in failing health since 1961 and on Oct 2, 1965, he fell at his home breaking his hip. The rest of his life was spent at the Clarinda Municipal Hospital, and the Youngs Nursing home of Clarinda. He was a member of the Methodist church of College Springs, and was faithful in attendance as long as his health permitted; was an honorary member of the W.C.T.U. of College Springs, Iowa. He was a good neighbor, never to busy to help in time of need. He leaves to mourn his loss, his faithful wife, Carrie, two sisters, Marry and Alice Head of Clarinda, Iowa, a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Services held at College Springs Methodist Church, Friday, May 13, 1966 with the Rev James Warner and the Rev Clifford Fitz officiating. Hymns "Sunrise" and "Want Now to Cross Jordon Alone", were sung by Horace E. Richardson with Mrs Doris Tritsch at the organ. In charge of flowers were Gladys Christensen, Gertrude Downing and Charlotte Christensen. Casket bearers were Clark Perry, Ross Parks, Knox McCalla, Fred Stimson, Clark McKeown and Marvin Rowan.
