MYERS, GEORGE EDGAR ED--George Edgar Myers, familiarly known as Ed Myers, son of George Henry Myers and Sarah Catherine Hockman Myers, was born on a farm south of Grafton November 20, 1891. He passed away May 11, 1960, at the age of 68 years 5 months and 21 days. He was united in marriage to Audrey McDonald of Strang October 10, 1911. To this union were born three children, two sons, Vorus and Verle, and a daughter, Bonnie. His outstanding interest was working with the soil. His life career was that of farming wherein he became known as one of the more successful farmers of the community. For 12 years he served on the Fillmore county board of supervisors, acting as chairman of the group for several years. He was a member of the I. O. O. F. lodge. He was a faithful and active member of the Geneva Evangelical United Brethren church. His fine Christian influence will long be felt in the community. He participated in the work of the farm project in which the church is currently engaged for the purpose of providing financial resources for the missions and benevolent work of the General church. When the house north of the church was procured for parsonage purposes, Mr. Myers spent many hours in the remodeling and improvement of the property. He was a good and helpful neighbor, friend of the young people, a devoted husband, a loving father and a kind grandfather to his nine grandchildren, of whom he was very fond. Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, William. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Audrey; his daughter, Bonnie (Mrs. Burt Mook) of Wichita, Kas; his sons, Vorus and Verle of Geneva; a son-in-law, Burt Mook; two daughters-in-law, Marian and Evelyn; two brothers, Leslie of Greeley, Col., and Ralph of Empire, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Hall of Geneva and Mrs. Eva Snodgrass of Gordon, nine grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Friday, May 13, at 2 p. m. at the Evangelical United Brethren church in Geneva with Dr. Walter E. Bachman officiating. Rev. Maude V. Mann of Lushton and Mrs. Oscar Nelson of Geneva sang “No Night There” , “Sweet Bye and Bye” and “I Won’t have to Cross Jordan Alone”, accompanied by Mrs. Gay fisher of Geneva. Pallbearers were Rodger Christiancy, Wendell Christiancy, Ronald Elznic, Boyd Garrett, Lowell Messman and Dean Miller, sons of classmates and friends of the deceased. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal May 19th, 1960 page 9.
