He had been employed at John Morrell & Co. since 1946. The son of Haven and Carrie Coontz Haff, he was born in Wayne County Jan. 28, 1905. A resident of Ottumwa 22 years, he was a member of Calvary Open Bible Church and Local No. 1, UPWA. He was married July 13, 1945, at Monmouth, Ill., to Vada M. Thomas, who survives. Survivors besides his widow include a son, Wayne K. of Hanover Park, Ill.; one daughter, Carolyn Haff, at home; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Marguerite Ellis and Mrs. Imogene Headley of Ottumwa; 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two brothers, Bert and Eugene, both of near Ottumwa; and three sisters, Mrs. Viola Bruce, Mrs. Mildred McGhee and Mrs. Twila Bellon, all of Corydon. He was preceded in death by three sons, one daughter, one stepson, and one brother. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Calvary Open Bible Church with the Rev. Leo Simmons pastor, and the Rev. Roscoe Morrison, pastor of the Rutledge Full Gospel Church, officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. The casket will remain at Johnson Funeral Chapel until Wednesday at 11 a.m. when it will be taken to the church.
