Mr. Martin was born in Carbondale, Kansas, and came here 47 years ago. He was a member of the Newport city council. Mr. Martin had been employed as sawyer at the local Diamond Match plant since its operation here and before that had been with the Diamond Match at Diamond City, near Ruby and with the Panhandle at Ione and the Dalkena Lumber company. MARTIN--Newport, Wash., Aug. 28--Funeral services for George Edward Martin, 51, who died at his home in Newport Saturday of sudden heart attack, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Sherman funeral home with the Rev. Willard B. Hall officiating. There will be a Masonic graveside service. Mr. Martin was born in Carbondale, Kan., and came here 47 years ago. He was a member of the Newport city council. Mr. Martin had been employed as sawyer at the local Diamond Match plant for many years and about two months ago suffered a broken let at the plant and was taken to a Spokane hospital. He had been home for two or three weeks convalescing. He is survived by his wife, Mabel; two sons, George Jr. and Stanley, all Newport; a daughter, Mrs. Charles H. McCain, Metaline Falls; his mother, Mrs. J. E.
