Description	:	George E. Baumbach who has been in poor health for some time died of pneumonia at five o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the home south of Nelson. Mr. Baumbach had been a resident of Nuckolls county (sic) since the early sighties (sic), and for many years was in charge of the County Farm. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, December 14, 1933 ======================== George Emil Baumbach was born in Crawford county (sic), Penn., August 2, 1863, where he resided with his parents, John S. and Mary E. Baumbach, until he reached manhood; he received his high school education in Blooming Valley, Penn. He was united in marriage to Sarah Deere on April 1, 1896, at Superior. When he first came to Nelson in 1891 he was employed by Mr. R.M. Gourlay on the same farm where he lived this last year and where he passed away on December 13, 1933, at the age of 70 years, 4 months, 11 days. He became a member of the Methodist church (sic) at Nelson in 1909. Mr. Baumbach and wife were faithful care-takers at the Nuckolls County Poor Farm for 21 years, where he was as kindly thoughtful of those under his care as of his own family. He was ever a kind and loving husband and father and generous friend to all who he knew. He leaves to mourn his departure, seven daughters and two sons: Mrs. Gladys Shaw, Superior; John at home; Mrs. Louise Snavely, Superior; Mrs. Mary Theriault, Chicago; Mrs. Ruth Hoover, Wichita, Kansas; Mrs. Stella Mouzakiotis, Chicago; Mrs. Kathleen Young, Wichita, Kansas; DeLos and Maxine at home. Also three sisters and a brother: Mrs. Wm. A. Voigt, Nelson; Mrs. Wm. B. Jones, Superior; Charles E. Baumbach, Union City, Penn.; Mrs. Glenn L. Spencer, Erie, Penn. Twelve grand children and a host of friends also survive. The funeral services were conducted by his pastor, W.B. Zimmerman, at the Methodist church (sic) Friday afternoon at two o'clock, where a large number of friends gathered for the last rites. Burial was in Nelson cemetery (sic). We loved him, yes we loved him, But angels loved him more, And they have sweetly called him To yonder shining shore. The golden gates were opened, A gentle voice said "come!" And with farewells unspoken, He calmly entered home. If we could see beyond today as God can see, If all the clouds should roll away and shadows flee, Oe'r present griefs we would not fret Our sorrows we would soon forget For many joys are waiting yet -- For you and me.
