Rayburn and the Rev. A. Breeling officiated and Mrs. Jack Taylor and Mrs. Gerald Taylor sang, “In The Garden” and “Just A Closer Walk With Thee” accompanied by Mrs. Earl Spiker at the organ. The floral committee included Mr. and Mrs. Howard Kenworthy and Mr. and Mrs. William Chalmers. Mr. Davis died very unexpectedly Friday evening, January 10, at his home in Grant of a heart attack. He was found dead in his chair by his son Dennis, who returned to his father’s home about 10:45. Dennis has been visiting here from Hayward, California. Mr. David was born in Cass county, Iowa near Grant, April 6, 1891, the son of Isaac C. and Sarah Ann McCue Davis and spent nearly all of his life in this area except for a few years in Montana. He was a retired painter, paperhanger, and carpenter. He was married December 5, 1914 to Pearl Sprague of Grant, who preceded him in death February 12, 1956. Surviving are four sons, Everett and Richard D. Davis of San Leandro, California, Owen of Des Moines, and Dennis of Hayward; a daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Margalene) Grubbs of Perry, 16 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and a brother, Fred Davis of Grant.
