Description	:	TABORN, George "Fred" 82, of Springfield passed away Thursday morning, December 17, 2015 in Villa of Springfield. He was born December 22, 1932 in Springfield, the son of the late Joseph E. and Anna (Kramer) Taborn. He attended Springfield South High School. Fred served our country proudly during the Korean War in the United States Army. He was a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Ohio Operating Engineer's Union. Read More	TABORN, George "Fred" 82, of Springfield passed away Thursday morning, December 17, 2015 in Villa of Springfield. He was born December 22, 1932 in Springfield, the son of the late Joseph E. and Anna (Kramer) Taborn. He attended Springfield South High School. Fred served our country proudly during the Korean War in the United States Army. He was a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Ohio Operating Engineer's Union. One of Fred's most memorable accomplishments was being a member of the construction crew that built the CJ Brown Reservoir. He was a member of the VFW Post 1031 for many years. Fred was a self-taught handy man that could do just about anything. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends. Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Barbara J. (Kearney) Taborn; two daughters, Barbara A. (Taborn) Smith of Marysville, Ohio and Angela (Dwight) Bailey of Xenia, Ohio; one sister, Johanne (Edd) McCracken of Springfield; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Taborn of Springfield; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, David Taborn in 2007 and one infant daughter, Loretta Taborn in 1975. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 from 12 pm to 2 pm in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. A celebration of Fred's life will begin at 2 pm in the funeral with Deacon Norm Horstman officiating. Inurnment will follow in the St. Bernard Cemetery with military honors.
