Mr. Kregel was ill several months, but until his last illness was able to look after his business. Mr. Kregel was ill several months, but until his last illness was able to look after his business. Born at Garnavillo, Iowa, May 14, 1857, the son of Dietrich and Lena Kregel, he came to Nebraska City in about 1880. On Jan. 7, 1885, [sic] he married Clara Petring, who passed away here March 25, 1931. Surviving are three sons and a daughter, Robert, Ella and Arthur, Nebraska City, and Mark, Denton, Texas. A son Donald, died a few years ago. Grandchildren surviving are Anna May Kregel and Mrs. Joseph Wells, Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Dwight Newton, Bend, Ore., George Kregel, Charles Kregel and Douglas Kregel, Denton, Tex., and a great grandchild, Jennifer Ellen Newton, Bend, Oregon. Alvin J. Kregel and Mrs. Cornelia K. Drahn, Garnavillo, Ia., are brother and sister. Mr. Kregel was a member of the local City Council before the present system of government was introduced and besides managing his windmill company, he was interested in bees and the study of astronomy.
