Description	:	George G. Buus was born on a farm southwest of Lennox, SD on Aug. 21, 1915, the son of George H. and Tena (Cramer) Buus. He attended country grade school and grew up there. On Apr. 9, 1941 he was united in marriage to Menna Rops at her parental home, officiated by her father, The Rev. John J. Rops. Following their marriage they farmed in the Davis area and in 1958 moved to the family farm southwest of Lennox. Buus was born on a farm southwest of Lennox, SD on Aug. 21, 1915, the son of George H. and Tena (Cramer) Buus. He attended country grade school and grew up there. On Apr. 9, 1941 he was united in marriage to Menna Rops at her parental home, officiated by her father, The Rev. John J. Rops. Following their marriage they farmed in the Davis area and in 1958 moved to the family farm southwest of Lennox. Besides full time farming he served on the school boards of two country schools and drove the road grader for several years, including the '68-'69 blizzards. In 1984 they retired and moved to their home in Lennox. "Retiring" to city living George found himself as a full time city park employee. He enjoyed mowing the grass, visiting people and working with Albert Wheelhouse. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one infant sister, Ida, and one brother, Harm Buus. George died at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center on Tuesday afternoon, Jun. 24, 2003, having battled cancer for over three years. He attained the age of 87 years, nine months and 3 days. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of over 62 years, Menna; six children and their spouses: Dianne and H.P. Nordmann of Chancellor, Anita and Lynn Oltmanns of Davis, Lela and Glenn Davis of Parker, Wendell and Susan Buus of Lennox, Marlys and James Davis of Parker and Charles and Elaine Buus of Lennox; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren.
