REESIDE The many friends in Chariton and Lucas county will learn with regret of the death of George G. Reeside which occurred at the home of his sister, Mrs. Ed. Gow, in this city on Wednesday afternoon, August 24, 1904, at two o'clock, after an extended illness with paralysis. Brief funeral services, conducted by Rev. B. F. Miller of the M. E. church, were held at the Gow residence this morning at eight o'clock after which the remains were taken to Norwood where interment took place under the auspices of the Masonic order of which he had been a faithful member for many years. The floral tributes were many and beautiful, testifying to the high regard in which deceased was held. George Gillam Reeside, son of Robert and Elizabeth Reeside, was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on March 7, 1854. When but a small child he moved with his parents to Fairfield where his father died in 1873. George then assumed his father's place and labored faithfully to keep the family together and provide for their wants. In 1876 they came to Chariton. He was married here in 1880 to Miss Carrie E. Fletcher who died about eleven years ago. To them was born one son, Herman, who is a member of the regular army and is now stationed at Plattsburg barracks, New York. Soon after his marriage Mr. Reeside moved to Lucas where he engaged in the practice of Law. About five years ago he was stricken with paralysis and has since been in a helpless condition. He was of a quiet but pleasant disposition and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. His generous nature was ever giving itself out for the good of others and his kindness of heart won for him a host of friends. He is survived by his son, a brother, Alex Reeside of Wichita, Kansas, and a sister, Mrs. Laura M. Gow of this city. These sorrowing ones have the sympathy of the entire community in their great grief.
