MYERS SUCCUMBS TODAY Resident of Wapello County 82 Years; Born in Agency, Moved to Ottumwa. George H. Myers, 82, a life-long resident of Wapello county, died at his home, 601 South Ward street, at 11 a.m. today. A son of Edwin [sic] and Sarah Myers he was born at Agency February 17, 1856. He moved to Ottumwa 28 years ago. Mr. Myers was formerly employed at the Ottumwa Steam laundry. He was a member of the Davis Street Christian church. Survivors include his wife, Anna; two daughters, Edna, at home, and Mrs. Sadie Finney, Ottumwa; three sons, Clarence, at home, and Cecil and Harry, both of Ottumwa; a half-brother, Grant Myers, Rock Island, Ill., and 12 grandchildren. The body was removed to the Johnson funeral chapel pending arrangements. --------------- “MYERS SERVICES,” From “Ottumwa Daily Courier,” Saturday, August 13, 1938, Page 14: Funeral services for George H. Myers who died at his home 601 South Ward street at 11 a.m. Friday, will be at the home at 3:30 p.m. Sunday and at 4 p.m. in the Davis Street Christian church, conducted by the Rev. L.R. Putnam, assisted by the Rev. C.A. Field. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. The body will be moved to the residence at 5 p.m. today.
