Ward Street, died at 2 a.m. today at her home, following an illness of several months. She was the daughter of George H. and Rose Anna Wertz Myers, born in Wacoma [sic], June 25, 1895. She had lived in Ottumwa most of her life. She was a member of Davis Street Christian Church. She was married to William H. Champ, who died April 24, 1929. Later she married Joseph E. Finney, who died March 11, 1938. Surviving are five sons, Robert, Arthur, Richard and Hubert Champ, all of Ottumwa, and F.P.C. 1/C Harold Finney, who is with the U.S. Navy in Japan; two daughters, Mrs. Rowena Hornbeck and Mrs. Betty Miller, both of Ottumwa; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Cecil J. Myers of Fort Smith, Ark.; and one sister, Mrs. Edna Carey of Ottumwa. She was also preceded in death by two grandsons and three brothers. The body is at Johnson Funeral Chapel awaiting completion of arrangements. "Finney Services," From "Ottumwa Courier," Friday, September 29, 1967: Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah E. (Sadie) Champ Finney, 72, of 609 Ward St., who died at 2 a.m. Thursday at her home, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Simonton, pastor of the Davis Street Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Wilt, John Boyd, Jerry Carlo, John Munley, Glenn Adams, and Ralph White.
