Description	:	Funeral services were held at the Advent Christian Church Monday afternoon for George H Phillis, 65, who died Friday at 11:30 a.m. at his home here after an illness of 5 years. Sugar diabetes, with which he had been confined to his bed over two years. was the cause of his death. The Rev. W. S. Bowden was in charge of the final rites and burial was made in the Villisca Cemetery. Pall bearers were Kay Wheeler, Charles Dunn, Alfred Havens, Chas. Hagermaster, W. M. Patterson and Elias Lewis. The body remained in the Wolfe Mortuary until time for the funeral. George Phillis, son of Elias and Rebecca Phillis was born at Marietta, Ohio on December 17, 1874. Mr. Phillis came with his parents to Iowa in 1877 and located on a farm north of Clarinda. They moved from there to Kansas where they lived several years, coming back to Villisca in 1886 to make their permanent home. Mr. Phillis was married to Serena C. Krutsinger, June 17, 1902 at Clarinda. They located on a farm north of villisca. To this union one son, James D. was born. Mr. Phillis was preceded in death by his father, mother, and one sister, Annie. Surviving are his wife, Serena, one son, James and three grandchildren, Herbert, Ellen, and Verda, an aunt, Mrs. Ellen Liddick, Superior, Nebraska; also his foster children, Mable Wolfe, Lucreta Yancy, Margaret Beatty, and Cline Dugan.
