He was born on Oct. 6, 1897, at Letz, Russia to Peter Sailer and Margaret (Morast) Sailer. Read More	The Bismarck Tribune, ND, Jul. 13, 1983 — HAZEN — George Sailer, 85 years of age, a resident of the Beulah Community Nursing Home and a longtime Hazen area resident, died Monday, July 11, 1983, at the Hazen Memorial Hospital. He was born on Oct. 6, 1897, at Letz, Russia to Peter Sailer and Margaret (Morast) Sailer. He came to the United States, as a boy, with his parents, and they settled northeast of Hazen, where he was raised and attended school. He was a veteran of World War I, serving in the United States Army. He married Martha Pempeit on Nov. 19, 1919, at Krem, northeast of Hazen, and after their marriage the couple farmed northeast of Hazen until 1961. They had moved to Hazen in 1954. After his retirement from farming in 1961, they continued to live in Hazen until 1980 when they moved to Rapid City, S.D. They lived in Rapid City until 1982 and George had been a resident of the Beulah Community Nursing Home for the past nine months. He is survived by his wife of Hazen; eight sons: Walter of Hazen, Rev. Lawrence Sailer, of Patterson, Calif., Gerhard of Colton, S.D., Verner of Deadwood, S.D., Roland and Gerald, both of Rapid City, S.D., Martin of Vermillion, S.D., and Rev. Delbert Sailer of Wind Lake, Wisc.; three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Velma) Wylie of Dearborn, Mich., Mrs. Eldon (Veona) Jorgenson of Indianapolis, Ind., and Mrs. William (Leila) Simpson of Chesterland, Ohio; 38 grandchildren , and 26 great grandchildren and four sisters: Mrs. Elizabeth Zeiszler and Mrs. Rosina Froeschle, both of Bismarck; Mrs. Regina Knecht of Hazen and Mrs. Emelia Barthel of Napa, Calif. He was preceded in death by: one son, Arnold, two infant daughters, three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 14, 1983, at 10:30 a.m. MDT at the Peace Lutheran Church, Hazen, with the Rev. Glen Nicola and the Rev. Clarence Gall officiating. Interment will be at the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Leonard Sailer, Reynold Sailer, Hubert V. Sailer, Ernest Oster, John Oster and Don Froeschle. Military rites will be conducted by the Hazen American Legion, Clark Grosz Post No. 189. ============================= George H SAILER born 6 October 1897 in Neusatz, Simpferopol, Crimea, South Russia was the Son of Peter SAILER and Margaretha MORAST. George at the age of 8½ with her parents and siblings; Katherina, Rudolf, Helena, Jacob, Elizabeth, Gottlieb, Regina, Rosina and Emelia, immigrated to America via the Port of Liverpool, England aboard the SS "Haverford" and arrived at the Port of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on the 28th of May 1906. George married Martha PEMPEIT on the 19th of November 1919 in Krem, Mercer County, North Dakota. The couple was blessed with no less than 12 children; Walter, Lawrence, Gerhardt, Velma, Veona, Vernon, Roland, Arnold, Martin, Leila, Gerald and Delbert.
