DOUGHTY George Hamilton Doughty, a native of Muskingum county, Ohio, was born May 2, 1847, and was the son of Allen and Lucinda (Honnold) Doughty. He was the sixth of twelve children and was reared to the life of a farmer in his native county, obtaining his education principally in the common schools. DOUGHTY George Hamilton Doughty, a native of Muskingum county, Ohio, was born May 2, 1847, and was the son of Allen and Lucinda (Honnold) Doughty. He was the sixth of twelve children and was reared to the life of a farmer in his native county, obtaining his education principally in the common schools. At a later date he removed to Cedar Rapids, NE., where he engaged in the drug business and was active in the community life of that place, serving the church and school in many capacities. He was a member of the M. E. church for 50 years and served on the board of education for 23 years. In 1899 he was married to Miss Imogene Rowland and one and a half years later moved to 1310 Pennsylvania avenue, Des Moines, where he had resided ever since and at which place he passed away at 5:40 a.m. on March 22 of heart trouble of long standing. He is survived by his widow, a sister, Mrs. Anna Shirer of Colorado Springs, Co., and a grandson, Warren Doughty of Vale, SD. Mr. Doughty was laid to rest in the family lot in the I.O.O.F. cemetery, at Victor, Iowa on Monday, March 25, 1929. Rev. O. E. McBride, pastor of the M.E. church being in charge.
