Description	:	George Smith Rites Held November 27 Funeral services for George Smith were held Friday, November 27 in the Miller Methodist Church. He died at his home here Monday at the age of 77 years. He had been in poor health for several years. The Rev. Dwayne Knight was in charge of the eservice. Music was furnished by a quartet made up of Roy Haas, Truman Elder, Mrs. Dwayne Halse and Mrs. Leon Karst. Mrs. Leory Blanchard played the organ. Pallbearers were Albert Schweppe, Emil, Ernest, Richard, Alfred and Edgar Roesler. George Harry Smith was born April 16, 1876 to Bert and Mary Smith at Dixon, Ill. When he was five years of age he moved with his parents to Plymouth County, Iowa. He was married to Lizzie Miner in 1900. Five sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Smith. In 1917 the family moved from Iowa to Hand County where they settled on a farm. They remained on the farm until 1944, when he retired and moved with his wife into the city of Miller where he lived until the time of his death. He was a member of the Miller Methodist church which he joined by confession of faith on February 29, 1924. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lizzie Smith of Miller; five sons, Leslie M., Chicago, Ill.; Walter C., Bremerton, Wash.; Erwin K, Mitchell; Marvin R., Sherburn, Minn.; and Glen G. of Miller; 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, two brothers and one sister.
